Elk River United Methodist Church (ERUMC) would like to extend a big welcome to all people wherever you may be on your spiritual journey. ERUMC is an inter-generational congregation with a call to heal a broken world by providing a welcoming environment, faith formation and programs for all ages, and supporting community organizations and missions at home and abroad. We look forward to your visit!
Your First Visit
Worship: Worship is on Sundays at 8:30 am or 10:00 am. Sunday School is also held during the 10:00 am worship for kids age 3-5th grade. Fellowship with coffee and doughnuts is at 9:30 am and 11:00 am . The early service has a traditional feel with hymns, organ music, and choir. The late service is informal and led with praise music.
Parking: ERUMC has an ample parking lot with access from both Main St and 4th St. Follow the sidewalk along the building to the far set of doors. When you enter, you'll see the sanctuary doors and smiling faces waiting to greet you. Entering the doors nearest the parking lot will lead you to the fellowship hall. Walk up the stairs (a coat rack is located on your left) and straight to the other side to find the sanctuary. **Caution** At this point in time, you may have many people smiling at you, saying good morning, and/or offering to shake your hand and introduce themselves.
Children: Children are welcome to remain with you during worship or we have a nursery available for young ones. An usher can show you the way to our childcare area located on the lower level. ERUMC loves children. A cry, whine, or laugh won't bother us a bit! It's all apart of the experience. Activity bags, books and 'busy toys' are located at the back of the sanctuary. **Caution, children making a cute comment or singing loudly or moving to the music may result in more smiles and an occasional "Awwww" from those sitting near you. A changing table is located in the lower level near the Nursery or in the large stall in the restrooms.
After the Service: Following the service we invite you to stop at the welcome desk, just outside the doors of the sanctuary. Here, you will have an additional opportunity to ask questions or get information. **Caution: at this point in time you may be offered a free gift. If you do not enjoy gifts, simply say, 'no thank you.' Refreshments and conversation occur following worship in the Fellowship Hall, just up the steps from the Sanctuary; we hope you’ll join us so that we can get to know you better. In this area we have a children's table available and a train table for those who want to play.
What should I wear? At ERUMC folks dress as they are most comfortable which means you will see some people dressed in their 'Sunday Best' and others in jeans or leggings.
Communion: The sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of each month. In the Methodist Church, we practice an open table, which means all who believe in Jesus Christ are welcome to partake. Regular and gluten free wafers are available. Grape juice is used in place of wine and distributed in individual cups.
Other helpful information: Large print bulletins and hymnals are available for those who may need them. As a guest, you are welcome to give during our time of offering; but please do not feel obligated; we are happy to have you as our guest.
God’s peace to you and we pray that your spirit will be enriched by your visit!
