Context for Ministry: Elk River United Methodist Church is a multigenerational congregation located in a growing community mid-way between Minneapolis and St. Cloud. ERUMC is seeking a reliable individual to serve as lead nursery attendant. This is a part time position working Sunday mornings and for special occasions. Parents or caretakers remain on-site while children are in the nursery. The ideal candidate will have a Christ-centered life, a genuine love for young children, communicate well with children and adults and have an interest in supporting ministries at ERUMC.
Primary Responsibilities: To provide a safe, secure, nurturing, clean and loving environment for children in our ministries.
Regular duties: • Arrive 15 minutes prior to nursery opening. The nursery is open during and between worship services on Sundays and during Wednesday evening services during Lent. • Check in children as they arrive which includes obtaining any special needs information and assigning pager. • Provide age appropriate care, and interact with children through games, stories, crafts, and play. • Coordinate schedule for nursery assistants to maintain proper ratio of children to nursery worker and assistants. • Provide clear direction and expectations to assistants with the care of the children. • Remain in nursery while children are present, sending assistants to carry out other tasks. • Page parent as needed for diaper changes or other concerns. • Oversee the pick-up of each child to the proper parent or guardian, gather pager and communicate any pertinent information to parent or guardian. • Pick up and organize nursery before and after attending to the children. • Notify the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry (or office) for supplies as needed. Occasional duties: • Work additional or special occasion dates as needed. • Communicate any issues, questions, concerns or disagreements to SPRC. Skills and requirements: • A Jesus centered life. • Model Christian values—sharing, care, respect and patience • Experienced caring for children • Must be 21 or older • Must complete a background check and Safe Gatherings Training • CPR and first aid certification a plus. Must attend and pass a training course within 90 days of hire. • Provide two weeks’ notice for any planned absence. Coordinate back up nursery worker to fill in. • Contact Pastor or Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry as early as possible if unable to be present due to illness or special circumstance on a scheduled day. ERUMC is seeking to hire a part-time, 5-10 hours/week, Choir Director with gifts and skills that can grow the ministry as well as care for those in worship each week through prayer and excellence in worship. This individual, called by God, will be gifted in the following areas:
1. Select choral music and lead weekly rehearsals with the Chancel Choir 2. Conduct the Chancel Choir piece each week (3 Sundays a month). 3. Work with the Pastor and staff to create an excellent worship experience. 4. Possess leadership and organizational skills while working as a team player.
Reports to: ERUMC Pastor, works with ERUMC staff and is evaluated by Pastor and Staff Parish Relations Team.
