We have many opportunities for those who love music. Our chancel choir sings most Sundays at the 8:30 worship service, and a praise band leads the 10:30 service. We welcome singers who only want to commit for a season (Christmas or Easter) as well as instrumentalists with gifts to share. A children's choir is part of the Sunday School hour. Joyful Ringers (handbells) meet on Monday evenings from 6pm to 7pm. More are welcome!
A men's study group meets Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm at the church. Studies are lay led, and topics change approximately quarterly. A less formal men's group meets on the mornings of the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, to share breakfast, social time, and discussions about faith and life.
The Elk RIver unit of the United Methodist Women meets monthly for breakfast and a program. An evening circle also meets monthly. Members also gather informally between unit meetings for service, fellowship, and as a quilting group.
A Women's study group meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm.
An intergenerational congregation, ERUMC offers many opportunities to fellowship as the family of God. Church family suppers are offered most Wednesday evenings during the school year. An Adult Fellowship group meets monthly for potluck lunch. Highlights of the year include a pre-Lenten Mardi Gras dinner, a Christmas fellowship event and the summer "God's Great Beauty" camping trip.
ERUMC members are responding to the denomination's call to "heal a broken world." We regularly host homeless families through Great River Family Promise, support relief efforts of UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), deliver Meals on Wheels in the community, and support the local food shelf CAER. Our United Methodist Women encourage support of UMW projects worldwide, including Emma Norton Services and Simpson Shelter in Minneapolis.
